Schedule I is set in a fictional city with a vintage aesthetic, reminiscent of the Nixon era and the Drug War. Players start as a “Street Rat,” the lower rung on the illegal ladder, and go through eleven levels to achieve the highest goal of becoming a “Kingpin.” The game’s advancement system is created to open better effects and tools for drug manufacturing and distribution as players level up.
The gameplay involves developing weed plants, boiling meth, and procuring other illicit imports. Participants can mix various components, some of which are strange, to create unique products. While the game does involve drug-related actions, it does not glorify them; instead, it presents a somewhat goofy and amusing take on the criminal underbelly.
